Edited by David E. Schoonover. An unabridged transcription of the manuscript receipt book of Alice Bankes, Lady Borlase of Bockmer Manor, Medmenham, Buckinghamshire. The oldest portion of the manuscript is dated July 1665, and contains 108 recipes, mainly culinary, as compared to the 17th c. Elinor Fetiplace manuscript containing mostly household recipes. Other portions of the manuscript cannot be dated precisely, but appear to have been written in the 18th century. The earliest segment contains recipes for meats and seafood, as well as creams and cakes, some puddings, some wines; the later segments also include household recipes. 172 pages. Hardcover.
